Some Guy with a Guitar

 Okay then, I'm some guy with a guitar, and I'm here to talk about other guys and gals who play guitar. If you haven't guessed from the title or the dashing photos, I have a rather obsessive and almost addictive passion for Hard Rock music, and when I say Rock, I mean it in all it's forms. Rock N' Roll is an umbrella that encompasses countless sub genres, so many that sitting here naming them all would take eons, and would probably bore most of you in the process. But, despite the large variety, I love it all; Rock, Metal, Grunge, Alternative, Blues, bla bla bla...

 This is a passion that has been brewing for some time, well I say some time, it's been pretty much my entire life. I love old school Rock, and I love modern Metal, I don't think there's a single element of the music that doesn't resonate with me. The passion and the sheer attitude that so many great Rock bands ooze is just hypnotic to me. Artists like AC/DC, Slash, Beartooth, Motorhead, Alter Bridge, the list goes on. These are the musicians that embody everything that's so profound and important about the genre. It's their drive, the painful blistering volumes they reach, their raw intensity and most of all, it's the attitude. The attitude is what makes Rock so vital, so empowering and of course, so fucking cool. 

 Rock has endured a fairly bumpy roller coaster ride over the decades, and from the looks of things today, that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon. New band's causing controversy, old ones re-forming, popular ones dissolving, the rise of the new industry, there's a lot to talk about. So, since the genre is currently trapped on this endless roller coaster, why don't I discuss whatever the Rock world has coming down the pipes. Who am I? I'm a fan, a guitar player and of course, someone very opinionated. So with all kinds of shit going on out there I'm gonna be here to talk about my own opinion. Does that opinion mean anything to you? Probably not, but who knows you may enjoy reading it. 

 So this is my blog, where I'll talk about everything new in the Rock world. The Artists, Albums, Tours, Controversies, and whatever else happens my way on this Rock N' Roll journey. Since your here stick around, sit back, grab a drink, and just leave the Rambling to me ;).

  Catholic Protesters Call for Metal Radio Station to be Shut Down.            Well then, who would've thought we'd be dealing with this again? Here we are, hurtling towards the middle of 2021 and heavy metal once again finds itself in the lime light of controversy. I won't lie, I genuinely believed we were past all of this. I thought this sort of thing died out at the end of the twentieth century, but no.            On the 3rd May a New Jersey based college radio station called WSOU was subject to public protests calling for the station to be shut down. WSOU was founded in 1986 as non-commercial college radio station for students across New York and New Jersey. The station exclusively plays hard rock and heavy metal to thousands of young headbangers across the two areas. The group 'Shutdown WSOU' (imaginative) is a catholic lead protest group. Their aim is to, as you can probably guess, shut down the radio station to protect the youth from this "Satanic"

Vaccination Required Concerts

Is it a form of discrimination and alienation, or is it simply protecting the health of concert goers themselves? As we rocket our way through 2021, we are beginning to finally see some element of normality returning to the planet. Restrictions are slowly easing and people are starting to rediscover the outside world once again. Not only are people finally able meet face to face once again, outdoor extra curricular activities are making a comeback. Beginning with pubs and restaurants, only to then escalate to clubs and sporting events. The Euros final alone saw 60 000 fans filling up seats at Wembley Stadium, with very little social distancing measures put in place. Yet despite fans being allowed to fill stadiums in their tens of thousands to watch the football, music is still deemed too unsafe to go ahead until August. The Pretty Reckless 'Death by Rock and Roll' - Album Review

A fine addition to The Pretty Reckless catalog.       After almost an entire year in worldwide lockdown, The Pretty Reckless put their down time to good use. 'Death by Rock and Roll' is the fourth studio album released by The Pretty Reckless, and the first album recorded since the passing of their long-time producer Kato Khandwala. The album was instead produced by Johnathan Wyman and serves as touching tribute to Khandwala. The opening title track and the closing country western inspired 'Harley Darling', a song about the love of a Harley Davidson, are obvious tributes to the late producer, as Khandwala himself was tragically killed in a motorcycle crash. 'Death by Rock and Roll' also pays tribute to another friend of the band, the late singer Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, who passed away in 2017.      The album touches on themes of loss, tragedy and depression, not too dissimilar from their previous works.
